Soon, more bases were added at Orlando (KMCO), Kennedy (KJFK), and Chicago O'Hare (KORD).
Our international operations began with the opening of European Bases of Operations at London Heathrow (EGLL) and Brussels (EBBR).
During the mid 2000's, other exciting features were introduced, including our exclusive Golden Bear Service and Golden Cub flight operations. Special Operations then followed, along with California Airlines Helicoper Services. During 2006, California Airlines expanded into Los Angeles (KLAX), Singapore Changi (WSSS), Honolulu (PHNL) and Melbourne (YMML). In 2007 new Bases were opened in Vancouver (CYVR) and Princess Juliana (TNCM).
Also, in 2007, Tom Bowden, a dedicated X-Plane enthusiast, joined Cal Air and quickly progressed through the ranks taking over as London Heathrow (EGLL) Pilot Supervisor and then as Scenery Director. In 2007 and 2009 Tom upgraded the "CAXification" of over 1,500 airports and other sceneries.
Toward the end of 2010, Antonio Sanchez turned over ownership of Cal Air to Tom Bowden, and durring the winter of 2010-2011 Tom totally updated and modernized the website and strengthened the organization.
2011 has seen the refinement of most of our Check Rides by offering a set of progressive challenges for our Pilots. Our Online Certification Check Ride requirements have been enhanced and our reputation with online networks continue to surpass all other VA's that are currently in operation.
Our Tours and Charters Division, started by Bill Waggoner, has been expanded to offer a wide range of challenging flights arround the globe.
But by far, the most exciting and significant development in 2011 has been the introduction of the CAX Interactive Training Courses (CAXITC). This was an inspirational development by our then Vice President of Operations, Andrzej Borysewicz.
Later in that year the Advance Training Course (ATC) was introduced. This course builds upon the knowledge gained in Basic Training and tests our pilots to the limits.
The year 2012 brought a change to Cal Air, late August, Tom Bowden turned over ownership of Cal Air to Brent Bain, Brent has assumed the visionary leadership of the airline and along with our Adminstrative Team strive to bring more of the Real World / Real Airline expirience to Cal Air. Along with a new pilot ranking system and training requirements, California Airlines has implemented a unique Bring Your Own (BYO) aircraft program where qualified pilots can fly their own favorite payware or freeware X-Plane aircraft for Cal Air.
